The Utah Commission on Service and Volunteerism offers Volunteer Management Training throughout Utah.
Volunteer center organizations can certify staff to become certified Volunteer Management Trainers through the Volunteer Management Training Certification course offered through the Utah Commission on Service and Volunteerism. When certified, these trainers then schedule and teach volunteer management courses to nonprofits in their communities. Upon completion of certification, volunteer centers have the necessary skills to:
1. To provide training and mentoring to nonprofit managers on assessing volunteer needs and matching those needs with the strategic goals of the organization.
2. To train nonprofit managers in how to develop relevant, competency-based volunteer roles and opportunities that attract and retain high caliber volunteers to address critical social needs in their communities.
The Volunteer Management Courses consist of the following modules:
Our current training schedule is available for download here. All trainings are free to non-profit volunteer managers.
The Utah Commission on Service and Volunteerism also hosts four regional Conferences on Service in Utah, with workshops focusing on volunteer management. The annual statewide conference was divided into four regions after input from volunteer centers and nonprofits in the state. The purpose of the change was to enable more nonprofits to attend with the conference held in their own communities and with registrations costs greatly reduced.
