The Utah Commission on Volunteers (UCOV) is now accepting applications for the 9/11 Day of Service project grants. The goal of these grants is to increase the number of people who serve in meaningful roles as volunteers dedicated to addressing important needs in communities across Utah.
The specific goal of these monies is to assist not-for-profit organizations who participate in national days of service projects with the costs of 1) building awareness about volunteer opportunities that exist in all regions of Utah; 2) developing a large scale service project as a way to retain volunteers for more long term projects.
The $3,500 grant will be awarded to connector organizations in the state who will partner with local not-for-profit organizations in creating projects that will occur between September 7-11, 2011 and that focus on military, veterans, first responders, military families, and organizations working with these groups.
The connector organizations may keep a maximum of $1,000 of the grant to assist with administrative costs associated with the requirements listed below. The remaining $2,500 must be granted to local not-for-profit organizations to develop projects for 911 Day of Service. A minimum of 150 volunteers must be recruited and utilized in the 911 Day of Service projects.
