The State Volunteer Service Awards celebrate the extraordinary volunteer efforts of Utahns all across the state. Awards are presented at the Lieutenant Governor's Volunteer Recognition and Awards Banquet on April 25, 2012.
The deadline for nominations was February 13, 2012.
Awards will be presented in the following 10 categories.
Governor’s Lifetime Achievement Award
The Governor’s Lifetime Achievement Award honors an individual who, over the course of his or her
lifetime, has made substantial and sustained impact to Utah as a result of their volunteer efforts. Minimum qualifications are 20 years of continuous or near continuous service.
Lieutenant Governor’s Civic Volunteer of the Year Award
Civic Engagement is defined as promoting the quality of life in a community, through both political and non-political processes. The Lieutenant Governor’s Civic Volunteer of the Year Award honors an individual who has improved his or her community through BOTH political and non-political processes. Minimum qualifications are five years of continuous or near continuous service
Corporate Volunteer Program of the Year Award
The Corporate Volunteer Program of the Year Award recognizes a for-profit organization that runs a
particularly effective employee volunteer program. Corporate philanthropic commitments are considered, but the volunteer efforts of the organization are the primary factor.
Government Volunteer Program of the Year Award
The Government Volunteer Program of the Year Award honors a government organization that runs a particularly effective employee volunteer program and exemplifies exceptional volunteer management practices.
Nonprofit Volunteer Program of the Year Award
The Nonprofit Volunteer Program of the Year Award recognizes a not-for-profit organization that
exemplifies exceptional volunteer management practices.
Encore Volunteer of the Year
The Encore Volunteer Award honors adults 55 and older who have performed unpaid volunteer service in their community and have made a meaningful impact in the lives of others. This award will be awarded to an individual for service performed in the past 12 months.
Adult Volunteer of the Year Award
The Adult Volunteer Award honors individuals ages 18-54 who have performed outstanding service in their communities and are making a positive impact in their local areas.
Youth Volunteer of the Year Award
The Youth Service Award honors youth age 18 or younger who have performed outstanding service in their communities and are making a positive impact in their local areas.
Utah AmeriCorps Member of the Year
These awards recognize an outstanding AmeriCorps member serving in the state. The member’s efforts must go beyond standard expectations.
Utah AmeriCorps VISTA of the Year Award
These awards recognize an outstanding AmeriCorps VISTA member serving in the state. The member’s efforts must go beyond standard expectations.
